New site and learning space

We are delighted to announce that Brooks Equestrian Academy has now relocated to a new site in Ratcliffe Culey, just five minutes from our previous location. This move marks an exciting new chapter for us, enabling us to offer an even more enriching experience for our students.

Our new site features five well-equipped stables, a spacious hay barn, a dedicated learning space, and extensive open fields, providing ample room for both our students and horses to thrive. These enhanced facilities allow us to accommodate more students, giving a greater number of young people the opportunity to engage with our unique equestrian program.

We are also pleased to share that all of our horses have made the transition with us and have settled beautifully into their new home. The expanded space provides them with an excellent environment in which to graze, exercise, and interact with our students.

While we have upgraded our facilities, we remain committed to preserving the calm, nurturing atmosphere that makes Brooks Equestrian Academy so special. Our new location continues to provide a safe, supportive, and engaging outdoor environment where students can develop their confidence, build essential life skills, and enjoy meaningful interactions with our horses.

We look forward to welcoming both new and returning students to our new home and sharing all the exciting opportunities this move has made possible.

Our Offer

At Brooks Equestrian Academy, we remain dedicated to providing high-quality equine therapy programs that offer students a unique opportunity to develop both practical and personal skills. Through our structured sessions, students learn essential horse care and foundational equestrian skills, which in turn foster a wide range of valuable soft skills, including organization, routine management, communication, and problem-solving.

Our programs go beyond equestrian training, playing a significant role in supporting students’ physical and mental well-being. The combination of outdoor activity, hands-on engagement with the horses, and structured responsibility helps to improve overall health, boost self-esteem, and promote emotional resilience.

We consistently observe positive outcomes among our students, as our approach encourages a strong sense of purpose and responsibility. Through caring for the horses and participating in the daily operations of the yard, students often experience noticeable improvements in both their social interactions and cognitive development.

In addition to equine-focused activities, we place great emphasis on life skills and community engagement. Students take an active role in the day-to-day running of the yard, contributing to various maintenance tasks such as gardening, painting, and general upkeep. They are also encouraged to interact with the wider community through visits to local businesses such as feed stores and garden centers. These experiences not only enhance their learning but also help to develop confidence, independence, and a greater sense of social responsibility.

Our program equips students with the foundational skills necessary to pursue further education in the equine industry, whether through college qualifications or apprenticeships. The equestrian field offers a wealth of career opportunities, and we strive to prepare our students for future employment in an industry where their skills will always be in demand.

Additionally, for students who may struggle to engage with traditional educational settings, we offer the option of accessing online tutoring through an external provider while attending our program. This service can provide tailored academic support to complement their learning experience at Brooks Equestrian Academy. Further details on this offering are available upon request.

We are proud to continue fostering an environment where students can develop essential life skills, gain confidence, and build a strong foundation for their future, all while benefiting from the therapeutic presence of our horses.

Terms Dates and Times

Brooks Equestrian Academy operates Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM, following the official term dates set by Leicestershire County Council. A full list of these term dates can be found on the Leicestershire County Council website for reference.

We offer flexible attendance options, allowing students to access our provision for either a full day or a half-day session, depending on their individual needs. To ensure a smooth and comfortable transition, we provide a structured transition period, enabling students to gradually adapt to our environment at a pace that suits them best.

We strongly encourage prospective students, parents, and professionals to visit us prior to enrollment to gain a firsthand understanding of our approach and facilities. This allows us to discuss individual needs, answer any questions, and provide a comprehensive overview of the support we offer. Following an initial visit, students have the opportunity to participate in a taster session to experience our provision in a relaxed and supportive setting.

About Me

  • Angel Brooks BA History PDip Equine Performance, Health and Welfare

I founded Brooks Equestrian Academy as a way to bring together my two greatest passions—equine care and education. My vision was to create a unique learning environment where students could benefit from the therapeutic and developmental opportunities that working with horses provides.

My journey with horses began in childhood, as I have been a dedicated equestrian and horse owner for many years. Alongside my academic studies, I gained extensive experience working as a groom for professional event riders, further deepening my knowledge and passion for equine care. Through my personal experiences, I witnessed firsthand the many benefits that horses can offer, not only in terms of skill development but also in fostering confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being. I wanted to create a space where young people could experience these same benefits in a structured and supportive setting.

In addition to my equestrian background, I spent three years working as a teaching assistant in a school specializing in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role provided me with valuable insight into the challenges many young people face in traditional educational settings, as well as the importance of alternative approaches to learning. It was during this time that I recognised the potential to merge my passions for education and equine therapy, leading to the creation of Brooks Equestrian Academy in 2022.

Since its inception, Brooks Equestrian has been dedicated to supporting young people in their personal development by providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment. I take great pride in helping students build confidence, develop essential life skills, and gain a deeper understanding of equine care, all while pursuing my own lifelong vocation.
